Embracing Wild Beauty & Self-Sufficiency at Prickle Valley Farmstead

Tucked away in rural central Texas, Prickle Valley Farmstead is a vibrant tapestry of wild beauty, sustainable living, and traditional craftsmanship. Our family-owned farm is dedicated to embracing the land's natural bounty while working towards self-sufficiency in all aspects of farm life.

**Wildcrafting & Natural Resources:**

Our farm is lucky to have some wild resources, perfect for crafters:

* Devil's claws and cockleburrs for crafting and such
* Green briar roots and wasp nests for unique decorative pieces
* And notably, wild Broomweeds – inspiring our future broom-making endeavors!

We are excited about eventually wielding a handmade broom crafted from our own wild Broomweeds – a true symbol of self-sufficiency and connection to nature.

**Path to Self-Sufficiency:**

Prickle Valley Farmstead is proudly working towards independence in various areas:

We have achieved self-sufficiency in egg production, homemade pickles, relish, and mayonnaise.
We are near self-sufficiency in garlic powder, chili powder, and hot sauce production – almost entirely farm-sourced by 2026!
Our current focus: Building a nursery plan to raise starter plants and gift plants and succulents as well as mastering tomato production – aiming for farm-to-table sauces, powders and canned goods.
We have future plans to expanding our animal family with pigs and goats to enhance meat and dairy offerings! We are thinking on implementing plans for soap and dryer balls soon as well.
*Editor's note* The physical, real life Sampson will be shedding his wool soon and we're gonna see what we can do with that situation.

**Our Philosophy:**

At Prickle Valley Farmstead, we believe self-sufficiency nurtures:

* Connection to the land and its rhythms
* Community through sharing homemade goods
* Pride in preserving traditional skills and crafts
* Freedom in relying less on external resources
